Pukekohe Family Health Care has been providing health care to families in the Franklin community since the 1940s.
The practice now has 20 doctors and a support staff of around 60 people. It is considered quite a large practice by New Zealand standards.
The facilities are purpose designed to provide our patients with the highest standards of primary patient care, general practice, accident, and after hours care.
Pukekohe Family Health Care is proud to have Cornerstone Accreditation which is the NZ College of General Practice’s standard for General Practice Care, ACC Accreditation for our ‘A & M’ department, and to be part of the ProCare Network which is a Primary Health Organisation (PHO).
Our vision is:
“Excellence in clinical practice and customer service”.
The doctors, nurses and other health professionals who work at or consult from the practice all believe strongly in the philosophy of “continuity of care”, namely that patients should have a family doctor. We believe that developing a close relationship with the practice, and preferably one doctor and their supporting staff, we can get to know the patient and their medical history, their personality and lifestyle sufficiently well to treat patients appropriately, to guide them in making healthy life choices and to work together to make decisions to benefit our patients health.
We treat illness, but a major part of our service is to promote and work towards “wellness” or helping patients avoid illness. Whenever possible we encourage patients to see their regular doctor and his/her team. When patients do maintain strong links with the practice team they will be able to monitor areas where the patient may be at risk and remind them of the various checks and tests that can help to avoid illness. If your doctor is on leave or not available we have backup options, and do advise trying to see the same doctor for the same problem.
